The atmosphere at the Eastern Visayas State University – Dulag Campus was electric on March 26, 2026, as the community came together to celebrate the culmination of the 2026 National Women’s Month. The event, titled “WE Express: Voices, Words, and Visions for Gender Equality,” served as a powerful testament to the campus’s commitment to advocacy, creativity, and inclusive leadership.

Spearheaded by the Gender and Development (GAD) Office in partnership with JCI Tacloban Love Inc., the activity successfully brought together students and faculty to amplify the call for a more equitable society. By invoking the spirit of the Babaylans—leaders defined by their wisdom, courage, and compassion—the event encouraged participants to channel their talents into meaningful social change.

Highlights of the Celebration

The Function Hall became a vibrant stage where art and advocacy intertwined. The day featured three core competitions that challenged participants to express the nuances of gender equality through different mediums:

  • Echoes of Equality (Vocal Solo Challenge): Participants used the power of music to deliver messages of strength and resilience, filling the hall with voices that resonated with the themes of empowerment.

  • Voices Unbound (Words that Lead and Liberate): This segment provided a platform for eloquent speakers to share stories and arguments that challenged stereotypes and championed the liberation of all genders.

  • WE Create (Art for Equality and Inclusion): A visual showcase where creativity served as a bridge, transforming abstract concepts of equality into tangible, inspiring works of art.

A Legacy of Inclusive Leadership

“WE Express” was more than just a series of competitions; it was a collective declaration. By welcoming participants of all genders, the event emphasized that the fight for gender equality is not a solitary path but a collective journey that requires the involvement of every member of the community.

The success of the 2026 National Women’s Month culminating activity stands as a reminder that when we “lead, empower, and create,” we move closer to the inclusive future we aspire to build. EVSU-Dulag Campus continues to be a bastion of these values, proving that the loudest echoes of change are found in the voices of those who dare to speak up for equality.
